The Contingency Operations Division is responsible for researching, developing, planning and implementing a strategic force for all major events in the City of Atlanta. This includes parades, protests, marches, rallies, large gathering permits, sporting and entertainment venues. The Division’s responsibility is to ensure everyone involved in the event is safe and all constitutional guarantees are provided to those involved.
The Homeland Security Unit is comprised into three (3) sub-units that include: the Homeland Security - Intelligence Unit, the Electronic Surveillance Unit and the Cybercrimes Unit. The Homeland Security Unit is responsible for gathering and analyzing both tactical and strategic information concerning crime patterns, criminal elements, Homeland security threats, threats against law enforcement personnel and dignitaries, electronic surveillance, forensic analysis of computers and electronic devices and disseminating information related to criminal activity that presents a threat to the community.
