The Atlanta Police Department welcomes 34 new police officers

  Who: Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields, AT&T Georgia President Vennessa Harrison, City of Atlanta Chief Operating Officer Josh Williams, Atlanta Police Command Staff, Atlanta Police Department graduating Class 257 and 258 and Atlanta Police Department Citizens Police Academy Class 34.  

What: The Atlanta Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of Class 257 and 258 to be held at Morehouse College’s Ray Charles Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 7 p.m. The graduation concludes 26 weeks of rigorous training at the Atlanta Police Academy, along with 12 weeks of field training for 34 men and women. All 17 graduates in Class 257 and 17 graduates in Class 258 are now assigned to work throughout different areas of the city as police officers in Atlanta Police Department’s Field Operations Division.

Class 258 Officer Darryl Brown is joining his wife in serving the Atlanta Police Department. Brown’s wife is an eight-year veteran sergeant in downtown Atlanta. They recently celebrated the birth of their baby girl, Amelia.  

The keynote speaker for the ceremony is AT&T Georgia President Vennessa Harrison.  

Atlanta Police Department Citizens Police Academy Class 34 will graduate alongside the police officers. A group of 22 community members completed 24 hours of skilled and professional instruction to learn more about policing in the City of Atlanta.
